Natalia's SimShop Online
|
Seems to have disappeared from the web. Our original review follows.
Impressive collection of building materials, objects, and clothing in all categories.
Back on line after a brief hiatus at the same URL on 8 Dec 01. Renamed from "SimShop Online".
Some of the stuff isn't back on line just yet, so stay tuned.
Pasiphae says, "The beautiful natural wood doors and windows are magnificent! And,
erm ... terrestial. There's a space mural here that just has to go up on the
entrance from the spaceport to Topside Mall, and the Luna City Hotel has opened the bidding
for a contractor to make the Zodiac Murals for their Celestial Ballrom!"

Nighttime Sims
|
Large collection of original clothing for women, men, and girls in several categories. Very
impressive collection of women's faces using head meshes from SimFreaks.
The "nighttime" them comes into play more with the objects than the clothes and faces. You
spend a lot of time exploring the extensive collection of objects in all categories.
Moved from Terrashare to The Sims Resource in August 2001.
Caution: Most of the SimFreaks heads, though beautiful, can slow down your game because of the number
of vertices in the mesh. Use them sparingly; your game can keep up with about one per household.
Carla says, "I'm especially impressed by the attention to detail in all the skins and items."

Oasis, Inc.
|
Oasis, Inc. offers lots of houses for all income levels.
The really impressive work in Sims architecture includes a model of the White House.
The original Oasis, Inc. site on Ocatch is closed, but webmaster Stephanie B. moved to new
sites open on freehompage.com and then to Angelfire. She is actively maintaining the
Angelfire site, so that's where our link points now.
Also known as S & R Construction, which is listed on
page 8 of the Moon Sims links.
Pasiphae says, "The sci-fi textures are pretty neat, but not quite Livin' Luna."

Old Skins by Daboo & Ana
|
This site is being built on SimsHost as we write this on 31 August 02, so it might
not be ready for you just yet.
Old Skins by Daboo & Ana hosts the archive for two of the most outstanding artists in
the Sims community. You really have to see their heart-stopplingly beautiful people for
yourself; no description we could provide here would do justice to their work.
They have revised many of their early skins with the skills they have
developed in the past couple of the years, so now they look even better.
This site also includes Ana's work from her old site,
Olé Sims (page 9) and will be updated with things that
are no longer available at
Sim Skins by Daboo & Ana
(page 12).
Popular demand encouraged them to bring back all their earlier skins at this
new site. For Daboo and Ana's latest work, visit Sim Skins (see above for the link) and
Exclusive Sims and Sim Fever
(see "Sim Fever" on page 9).
This is one of more than sixty great Sims sites hosted by
SimsHost.
You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies.
Fortunately, it won't cost you much to subscribe and in addition to getting
access to dozens of the greatest sites on the net, when you subscribe to
SimsHost you are doing your part to keep all of the great Sims sites
on line!

Old Soul Sim
|
Walls and floors. This extensive collection of walls by Susan Helene includes some breathtaking multi-panel murals with coordinated drapery walls. Hosted on geocities.
Caddy says, "Here's an important lesson for simsmasters! The Old Soul Sim pages often stall out during loading because of the number of banners pulled from other sites coupled with the lack of height and width definitions in the image tags. All these web sites have to complete their transmissions to your computer before your browser has enough information to format anything on the web page, and just one slow response or lost packet from any of a dozen sites means the page will never load. So if Old Soul Sims comes up with a blank page that just sits there, it's usually OK to just tell your browser to stop loading. What you will be missing is a banner image or two."

Olé Sims
|
Ana is incorporating her stuff from Olé Sims into
Old Skins by Daboo & Ana
(see above on this page), which is where the link to the left takes you.
Our original review follows, mostly because we had so much fun writing it that we
didn't want to change it. Ana inspires passion. Look at her work; you'll see what we mean.
Ai! Cara mía! Qué bonitas! Erm ... very nice collection of beautiful new faces and hairstyles based on Fionn's
head meshes. Lovely original clothes, too, with a collection of lingerie based on Disney characters. There are also skins
for men, but I was too busy ogling the women to notice them.
It says here the site was created on 12 Aug 01. Hosted by galeon.com.
Pasiphae says, "So now we know what it takes to shake you off of stodgy, Adam."
Caddy says, "I'll be right back. I'm going shopping for Cinderella's underwear."
Carla says, "I don't think it's the Disney characters."

Openlea's My Sims
|
Openlea's My Sims has long been one of the pioneers of the Sims community who are always venturing into new areas.
All of OpenLea's characters feature traffic-stoppingly shapely women and bigger-than-life guys. Skins and meshes. Ladies with hats! Unique meshes for big girls with more voluptuous figures. Muscular guys. Unique head meshes. In the parlance of the site, a "doll" is an adult female sim.
The site has quite a lot of adult content, including updates to Openlea's lust
beds that have had the Sims egroups rockin' since they first appeared in July 2002. Now several
more items offer custom animations.
Features work by guests artists The Cardassian, The Lady V, Ladered, LizzieShay, Landomann, Mirra Mage, Sim Krell, and KinkyPegasus.
OpenLea offers some "free" stuff and some a-al-carte items. If you want to purchase some of the characters or other items that only appear as previews on the site, the trick is to send money via PayPal and tell OpenLea what you want in subject line of the message that PayPal delivers. Make sure that you are reading the mail that comes to your PayPal address. Prices seem to range from US $5.00 to $10.00 per item.
This is an "anonymous ftp" site. Don't change "ftp" to "http" in the URL; there's no web server to respond. Also don't leave "index.htm" off of the end of the URL in your bookmarks and web links; otherwise you get a confusing directory listing. Some web browsers will show a login window when you first visit the site. Just leave the password field blank and the username set to "anonymous". If you get a directory listing, just close the window and click on our link again. If you go there from someone else's link and get a directory listing, try adding "index.htm" (without the quotes) to the URL.
OpenLea has given up on the bandwidth-limited Angelfire sites with their pop-up ads and spyware, so we have removed those URL's from this entry.
Warning: Adult content.

Sims Noir! Dresses, objects, and houses with a Goth flavor. Two very innovative transporter
objects. Offers a 3D preview of the dresses for those who can run the plug-in.
Carla says, "I couldn't get Pasiphae interested in the objects, but I love the
dramatic and entertaining layout of the site.

Opo's Sims Stuff

Opposite Six Sims
|
Caddy says, "Another silly use of frames, loading whole new pages with frames on them. The boy
needs to learn to use tables."
Pasiphase says, "The organization of this site is so odd that I can't figure out what
it's about. I couldn't find a thing to tell you about. Maybe you'll have better luck!"

Original Sim Junkies 2
|
Original Sim Junkies 2 is a companion site to Carol's
Original Sim Junkies site
on Geocities. When the Geocities site hits its bandwidth limit (which is most of the time)
you can still use your SimsHost subscription to download the goodies from OSJ2.
Offers a collection of excellent recolors in just about every category, presented
in a format that you will find very easy to navigate if you're used to Greg's work on
Moon Sims and Trollops & Johns.
Hosted by
SimsHost.
You'll want to subscribe to SimsHost so you can download the goodies. Fortunately,
it won't cost you much to subscribe and you will be helping to keep dozens of great sites
on line.

Pacific Property

"Its been fun, but Pacific Property is now closed."

Paladin's Place
|
Paladin's Place is the home of Sim Wardrobe. Very unique.
Offers "Servette" -- a Servo robot that bears a striking
resemblance to our favorite French maid -- and a coffee maker that must have been cloned from the
one at our office. Links for "Skins" and "Walls, Floors" are place-holders.
Has links to several utility programs (Windows only) written in Visual Basic.

Pandora Sims
|
Pandora Sims is a subscription site now, charging $5 a month to subscribe.
The thing in the top frame is a navigation bar; hold your mouse over the blue bubbles
to see where their links take you.
Offers a few floors and some recolored objects including several dance floors that don't look
like sheet metal. Screen windows. Offers a nude patch that allegedly works with Hot Date.
The well-marked adult section has two televisions that show adult channels. Apparently came on
line in November 2001. Hosted on cjb.net.

Paradox Sims
|
Appears to be off line. Our original notes are below.
Used to be "Origin Objects" on The Sims Resource. We got just a broken image on the front page, so
this link takes you to the second page. Navigate the site with the pull-down menus at the top.
Pasiphae says, "These white counters and the white table with metal legs (the "Bright Air" line)
are definitely Livin' Luna -- take some aluminum and alodyne it, and you've got it! The flat-panel
table TV fits the mileiu, too; and there's quite a collection of tile floors." Hosted by sim-paradise.com.
Carla says, "There's some serious industrial design artistry going on here in the objects,
but I'm not so sure about oversized bricks in primary colors."
Caddy says, "I had some navigation problems due to broken links, and the server push seems
like unnecessary overhead; but tenacity and liberal use of your Back button will pay off!"

Park Avenue Designz
|
Another addition to the wave of proliferating pay sites, Park Avenue Designz opened in February 2004. It has a small collection of really nice items, many of which follow a Livin' Luna theme with lots of metal and glass and sparse use of wood and cloth.
(Warning: Very expensive recurring billing to your PayPal account. Be careful what options you select if you subscribe.)

Parsimonious
Including Zen Sims
|
If we tried to accurately describe what you will find at Parsimonious we would quickly run out of superlatives. The huge collection includes complete sets of everything for your game, all created with a consistent eye toward detail and creative variations on each theme.
The little image at the left is barely an appetizer. It shows just a few of the items from the immensely popular Parsimonious Meandering Through Marrakesh bedroom set. Totally awesome; totally Livin' Luna! (Yes, that is a love bed.)
Pam's entire collection of skins and heads from My Lovely Sim (page 6) are now hosted at Parsimonious and Pam continues to contribute new work to the site. All of Cyndi's skins are still available for download, too.
The site is very easy to navigate. Make sure not to overlook the scroll bar on the frame-within-a-frame on the front page's preview window. If this is your first visit to Parsimonious, pack a lunch; you'll be there for a while.
Pasiphae says, "From the Seventies to the moon! If you are building a Livin' Luna household, don't miss Kate's "70's" furniture set. She is also very Parismonious in the use of wood in "The Sanctuary." The "Luminosity" sets for the dining room are Livin' Luna through and though, and the "Scaling Dizzy Heights" restaurant could be right out of the Luna City Raffles Hotel!
"Throughout the site you will also find a wonderful variety of plants that are so important as part of the ecosystem in your lunar habitat. Science fiction enthusiasts will especially enjoy the "Lunar Landings" bedroom sets. Kate's lavish use of glass and tile throughout the site are so Livin' Luna that there are just too many to list here; go to the site and experience it for yourself!"
9 April 2004: Parsimonious now hosts all the goodies from the late, great Zen Sims (page 16). The Zen Sims collection includes all of Kate's wonderful decorative items.

Party Sims
|
Lots of original objects and recolored stuff, mostly for Vacation. Many things redone with simulated woodgrain.
The invisible burglar alarm was a clever idea. Ditto for the semi-transparent dance floor.
No skins yet. If you don't have all the expansion packs, be careful; most items don't tell what expansion packs
are required. It's not a pay site per se, but has items which are reserved for people who donate money.
Operates the Party Sims Pub on
EZBoard where webmistress Delena gets
into a lot of discussions about the challenge of creating objects for Vacation. Apparently came on line
the first of April, 2002.

Patti's Place
|
Patti created this site to share her beautifully detailed faces for women and men.
Do you sometimes think those sallow sims ought to have a little color in their cheeks? Then check out Patti's people!
Faces are presented on Fionn's 700-series head meshes from
Sim Freaks, so try them out on some of his other meshes
or any C001-compatible head mesh. Patti's Place came on line on April 13, 2002. Hosted on Angelfire.
Pasiphae says, "I like to read the little story about each of the people. It makes them seem more real."

Pay Site Review
aka Sims Pay Site Listing
|
Pay Site Review (also known as Sims Pay Site Listing) has the most comprehensive listing of subscription sites that we know of. This should prove to be a valuable reference if you are deciding whether to subscribe to a given site.
Sites are listed in alphabetical order with a feature for visitors to review each site based on an overall rating, quantity of downloads, value For money, the quality of help and service from the site owner, and the frequency of updates.
The webmaster has some legitimate concern that the ratings might turn into a political contest based on how many friends a given site can get to write rave reviews. We are hoping that the huge number of Sims fans worldwide will result in feedback that overwhelms internal fannish politics. It might be helpful to know the number of people who contributed to each aggregate rating since small numbers would be more likely to indicate that the average review hasn't overcome politicking.
The Pay Site Review is maintained by Sim Wytch (page 12) whom you may know as Obsidian on the discussion boards.
Hosted by Labyrinth in Australia. On line since February 18, 2004.

"Pay" Sites
(Subscrition-based sites)
|
Warning: Be a little careful when subscribing to new sites. We are beginning to see a trend of a webmaster starting a pay site, updating a little, and then abandoning the site to start another one with a whole new subscription required. It would be wise to avoid subscribing to sites with anonymous or fictitious webmasters.
The term "pay" site is very misleading because, of course, somebody pays the bills
for all web sites. Usually within the Sims community, it refers to web sites that offer
subscriptions, as opposed to those that require "donations" to download part of their
content.
For the most complete listing of "pay" sites that we know about, visit Obsidian's Pay Site Review (see above on this page).
Here is a sampling of subscription-based Sims sites. Obsidian's site is so complete that we won't attempt to maintain a comprehensive list here. This list has all the subscription sites we knew about as of 1 Jan 2003, but we just can't keep up with the proliferation of profit-seeking pay sites these days.
All these sites have in common the key feature that they have lots and lots of stuff to download. (In my mind I include 7 Deadly Sims as part of the 8th Deadly Sim. If you subscribe to 8DS, you're helping to keep 7DS on line, just as when you subscribe to Sim Freaks you're helping to keep the "free" parts of the site on line.) Most of them also offer top-quality goodies, which attracts an enormous amount of traffic.
The pricing schemes vary so I calculated what it would cost to subscribe for a whole year, based on the best price we could find on the site on the day we last visited. I counted 30-day subscriptions as 1-month subscriptions.
SimsHost is a hosting service exclusively for Sims sites. As of February 18, 2004, it hosts more than 60 independent sites, all of which you can access through your one subscription to SimsHost. It has an additional fee for bandwidth use that might add another $10 to $20 a year for a very active downloader. Taken collectively, the sites on SimsHost constitute by far the largest Sims site in the world, but nevertheless they have the lowest monthly subscription cost. There is a complete list of SimsHosted sites (dozens of 'em) on the front page of the parent site.
July 13: Added Sims Style.
July 11: Added Exclusive Sims & Sim Fever and Chocolate Covered Sims to the list.
August 24: Chocolate Covered Sims no longer offers an annual subscription.
August 31: The Sims Resource reduced the annual subscription cost from $31.80 to $26.95, and has limited "free" downloads to only 3% of the stuff at a time.
September 9: Added Wood for Sims.
November 3, 2002: Added Elegant Sim Fashions.
November 5, 2002: The ESF webmaster requested that we remove the links to her site, so we did.
November 17, 2002: Added Scoobysims.
November 25, 2002: Added Simplosion.
January 1, 2003: Updated entry for Simplosion and the notes about SimsHost.
July 1, 2004: Dropped Chocolate Covered Sims; the site is closed. So is Elegant Sim
Fashions.

Persimmon Grove
|
If your tastes run toward natural wood and outdoors living, you will truly enjoy Persimmon Grove.
You can build a fantastic screen home and outfit all its rooms and gardens with rustic wood furnishings,
and almost everything on the site works without requiring an expansion pack. (The only exception we found
was the woodworking bench and gnomes, which require Livin' Large.) The animated fish pond added
on April 15, 2002 attracted a lot of attention in the alt.games.the-sims newsgroup.
Provides links to other sites where you can find
the goodies used to complete the scenes shown on the site.
Navigation hint: mouse over the persimmons. Note the clever animation as you mouse over the download links.
Hosted on Lycos in the UK.
Pasiphae says, "So pretty! And so terrestrial. I want to be an Earth Mother in my next life."
Carla says, "The airy house design would be perfect here in the moderate climate of the Luna City Cavern, but
we wouldn't dare use that much wood. These are definitely Earth homes."
Caddy says, "Outstanding woodcraft! Outstanding webcraft!"

Swimwear for men and women; and also some winter wear and lingerie for the ladies.

Nice collection of other recolors in more subdued shades. Our favorite object: The clocks that
light up, in the Outdoors section.
Came on line in July 2002.
