Luanne Jorewicz is a valuable member of the Artemis Project copy editing team. In this function, she edits and checks technical documents before publishing in the Artemis Data Book, and patrols the web site checking documents for style, grammar, and content.
As a member of the Electronic Communications Technical Committee, Luanne employs what she thinks of as her primary skills for the Artemis Project: editing, writing, and filmwork.
Luanne Jorewicz was born on June 24, 1958. She received a BA in Media Studies from University of Houston Clear Lake, with a concentration in writing, editing, screenplays, filmmaking, photography, computer graphics, and desktop publishing, and a minor in science and math. Before the Media Studies program was started at UHCL, Luanne intended to earn a science degree so that she could find a job at NASA/Johnson Space Center (JSC), something she's wanted ever since watching her father go off to work there in the '60s and '70s.
For the last 5 years, Luanne has worked on site at JSC as an editor with Information Dynamics, Inc., which is the current (formerly with Hernandez Engineering) contractor for on-site support services to NASA's Johnson Space Center. In that function she edits, formats, and prints JSC's technical and scientific documents (many of which are becoming available on line), as well as annual summaries for JSC divisions, manuals, handbooks, and other similar documents.
Before that, she worked at ILC Space Systems in the publications department. She produced the company's documents, upgraded the publications department into the computer world, worked with their configuration management department, and worked on proposals to obtain more jobs from JSC.
Luanne spends her spare time caring for a young daughter and husband, maintaining a house, gardening, and attending to elderly relatives. Any leftover spare time is devoted to trying to write, work on Artemis projects, and start a business! She is also trying to set up a children's branch of Artemis as time permits (anyone interested in becoming involved, contact her).
Luanne is a member of the Artemis Society of Houston. Besides Artemis, Luanne also works with the Space Station Future Fighters when time permits, to promote grass-roots support of the space program. She also provides free homework help for local area students through her church's volunteer organization.
